According to Pennsylvania State Police from the Lykens barracks, troopers were dispatched to a home at 94 Carsonville Road at approximately 2:13 p.m. following reports of a domestic disturbance. When emergency personnel arrived, they discovered Taryn Morgan deceased inside the residence from a gunshot wound. The Dauphin County Coroner later confirmed she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities also found Dennis Morgan suffering from what investigators later described as a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was airlifted to Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in critical condition. Officials indicated he was not expected to survive his injuries.
